Conservation Internship Blog

Elisa Fernandez“Hello, my name is Elisa and I have the pleasure of working with the Conservation Department of the Mary Rose Trust for the next two months.

This internship is supported by the Erasmus program and the University of Cadiz where I am studying a Master’s degree of Nautical and Underwater Archaeology. Before I studied a degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage in Universidad de Granada.

I would like to specialise myself in conservation and restoration of underwater archaeology and this is the reason why the Mary Rose is the best place for me to learn.

Working with the Mary Rose Team will be an amazing experience, a great opportunity and it would provide me of a lot of knowledge to improve my academic skills in order to work in the future.

In the next months I will learn how the conservation strategy is applied and how the different analytical techniques give us the necessary information to protect the Mary Rose and make it a great experience for all of us.

I am sure that it will be an unforgettable experience for me and I will keep you updated throughout my placement here”
