| Learning is at the heart of the Mary Rose Trust. We welcome learners of all ages. All our activities are based on the Mary Rose and her unique collection of Tudor artefacts. We believe learning should be challenging but fun. Hands-on activities and practical experience are central to all our programmes. We focus on Tudor History, Maritime Archaeology and Science relating to the ship and the on-going conservation programme.
Our learning provision includes:
Schools – Discovery Visits and Workshops for KS1-4 based on history and science are available everyday in term time
Post-16 and AS/A2 – Tudor History, Archaeology, Sciences and Leisure and Tourism study days by special arrangement
Undergraduate and postgraduate students – Conservation Science, Tudor History and Museum Studies/Heritage study days
Work-related learning – vocational courses, work experience placements and information on jobs in museums
Special provision and resources for visitors with learning difficulties and other special needs
Families – a range of family events is run at weekends and during school holidays
Adults - free Third Thursday Talks on various aspects of the Mary Rose
Outreach and Community services
- Free nation-wide loan box service for schools and special needs groups
- Visits by members of the Mary Rose Information Group
- 'Meet the Crew' visits to schools in the region
- Visits are available for those in the local community unable to visit the museum, for example, disability groups and hospices
Web-based materials include downloadable notes and worksheets for pupils and teachers and interactive resources for KS2 pupils.
