Museum and Workshops
Workshops take place in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Learning Centre at the Mary Rose Museum. For
accessibility information, transport links and a downloadable museum map guide visit our website: www.maryrose.org/your-visit Children must be supervised by an accompanying adult at all times for health and safety reasons. Activities are designed to allow parents and children to learn together.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Mary Rose Learning Team will lead the workshop session. You are responsible for the supervision and conduct of your children at all times. It is important that children are never left unattended at the Mary Rose Museum or within Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Please make us aware of any particular needs in your party.
The Home Educator Day costs £12.50 per person (both adults and children) £10 per person for season ticket
holders (please bring proof of eligibility on the day). This includes two workshop sessions and an opportunity to explore the newly re-opened museum. This package is a major reduction on normal museum ticket prices. To book your place, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will then send you a booking form. Complete the form and return it to us with your payment. Once we receive your payment, we will send your confirmation by email. Your places are not guaranteed until the completed booking form and payment have been received.
Payment by cheque made out to ‘Mary Rose Trading Ltd’. Alternatively, payment may be made by BACS. Please contact us for details. Your places cannot be guaranteed if you have not paid in advance.
If you cancel within 1 week of the Home Educator Day, you may gain entry to the Mary Rose Museum on an alternative day but will not be able to access the workshop element. Cancellations must be sent in writing (including email).
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard opens at 10:00 and closes at 17:30. We recommend that you arrive in good time for a 10:30 start. At the main Visitor Centre explain you are attending a special event at the Mary Rose Museum. Make your way through the dockyard to the Mary Rose Museum and report to the Museum Reception Desk. Here you will be met by a member of our Learning team. If you are late, we will do our best to accommodate you.
Cloakroom and Lunch
You may use the Learning Centre coat and bag racks. Please note: All items are left at owner’s risk, therefore, keep any valuables with you. Packed lunches can be eaten outside on picnic benches. A tented area is available in bad weather. The Mary Rose Café has a selection of sandwiches and light lunch options. There are toilets in the Learning Centre and Museum. Please use the facilities before workshops where possible to avoid disruption.
