Leather Collection

drawing of book cover found on the Mary RoseCUFFLINK BOX (7x5x3cm)
embossed leather cufflink boxThis finely detailed, deep forest green leather box features an embossed decoration which adorns one of the leather book covers found on board Henry VIII's flagship Mary Rose. The book would have had brass clasps to keep it closed. The original was found in a personal chest and was 45 years old when the ship sank. We know this because its design incorporates the Roman numerals MD, denoting the year 1500.
Lined in black velvet it is perfect for cufflinks or a special jewellery piece. Each box comes with an information card. £10.00

engraved leather jewellery boxJEWELLERY BOX (outside curve of fan 24cm, height of box 6.5cm)

This beautiful, rich burgundy leather fan-shaped jewellery box is inspired by the detail on the central boss from a Mary Rose gun shield. Stylistically similar to decoration appearing on a suit of armour in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, known as Genouilhac Armour, it is possible that this was made for Henry VIII by Italian masters. The box is lined in black velvet and has a removable inner tray with a ring divider. Each box comes with an information card. £32.00
