The Mary Rose Pomander This reproduction pomander has been modelled on one found on the main deck of the Mary Rose. Like the original, it is hand carved and supplied with a hanging ribbon. Only one such pomander was found recognisably intact within the hull but it i thought that many officers wore them around their necks, tied to a wrist or attached to the scabbard of their sword. This beautiful object is 4cm (1.5") high, suspended on a burgandy ribbon, is attractively gift boxed with a jar of clove, cinnamon, cedar and tumka fragranced beads and historical information. £19.95 |
The Mary Rose Pepper Mill This beautiful working reproduction, with modern inner grinding mechanism is modelled on one recovered from an oak chest in the stern of the orlop deck of the Mary Rose. It would almost certainly have adorned the senior officers' tables who were the only crew members able to afford the "king of spices" to flavour the shipboard diet. The top grinding section is in two pieces which sit in a third cup section which sensibly collects any stray ground pepper. It stands 20cm (8") tall and is a unique`artefact that would grace any table. The pepper mill comes presented in an attractive leatherette bow together with a jar of rainbow peppercorns and historical information. £39.95
