Let's
stay on this side of the gallery for a moment, the next display
contains more recreational finds from the ship. The centrepiece
is a replica of a splendid shawm, the forerunner of the oboe. This
is surrounded by part of the soundbox of a fiddle, tabor pipes,
and a barrel lid with two games inscribed on it, one of them being
Nine Mens Morris. One of the most interesting recreational
artefacts discovered was a backgammon set. Further along from here
is a case containing objects being made or repaired and some of
the tools used to do so, unfinished stone shot and an unfinished
linstock being two examples.

One of the most important discoveries on the ship was the Barber Surgeon's cabin. In the museum we have a full size replica of the cabin, small and cramped, lit by a single lantern. A chest full of his tools was found in the cabin and the contents are on display. These include razor and surgical tool handles, medicine jars and syringes, and a large mallet!
