The far end of this gallery is
dedicated to shipbuilding and carpentry and includes the grindstone
and some of the tools found in the Carpenter's cabin. A seated mannequin
is displayed trimming a cleft plank with a broadaxe and next to
him is a large Y-shaped timber modelled on one of the floor timbers
from the ship.
These timbers were made during the highly successful Tudor Shipwright
displays. In the centre of the floor is a model of the ship, reconstructed
using the evidence gathered during the excavation and surveying
of the hull and on the wall facing you is a large cutaway painting
of the ship.
