We visit you

If you can't come to us, don’t worry. We'll come to you! Our outreach programme is designed to inspire people across the country about the Mary Rose.

Community groups

Community Visits to Special Needs groups

Mixing history with entertainment, each special needs group visit is all about getting involved and having fun. Stroke groups, Mencap, Alzheimer’s Society, Hospices, Age UK and local authority day centres all receive visits from the Trust.

Sessions include a talk given by our Community Engagement Officer Trevor Sapey, plus the chance to handle real and replica artefacts from the ship. Sessions are designed to promote interest and discussion and engage members with everyday life on a Tudor ship.

Visits are free of charge to groups in Portsmouth and across Hampshire. However, we would be grateful for any donations to support our work. For special needs groups further afield we do ask for contributions towards travel costs.

Whatever the age range or the size of your community group, we can tailor a session to meet your needs. If you would like to find out more, please contact education@maryrose.org or +44(0) 2392 812931

Community Visits to Social Groups

The Mary Rose Information Group provides speakers across the country for adult social groups. These volunteers provide general interest talks and lectures. To find out if there is a speaker near you, please call +44(0) 2392 812931

If you require a specialist talk, please contact education@maryrose.org or +44(0) 2392 812931. Members of staff may be available to give talks on particular topics.

A variety of options are available for schools and groups that are unable to visit the museum in Portsmouth.
