Visually impaired visitors
Large print guides to our exhibits and artefacts are available inside the museum galleries, and our lifts have audio announcements.
We offer sensory resources, including tactile plans and a painting of the ship. Visitors are also welcome to handle certain artefacts, both historical objects and replicas.
The light levels in the Museum are kept low for conservation purposes, if you have any issues please speak to a member of our team. See our Relaxed Opening mornings where light levels are increased are held every month – please check our what’s on pages for more details.
Guide and assistance dogs are welcome.
Hearing impaired visitors
There is an audio loop system in exhibition spaces in the Museum. We can also offer transcripts for parts of the visitor journey.
Low light levels
Due to the low light levels in the museum visitors with claustrophobia may experience issues. If you have any problems during your visit please speak to a member of our team.

Mobility
The Museum is fully accessible for wheelchair and mobility scooter users. Lifts can be used to access each floor of the visitor route.
We can provide a wheelchair to use if needed (subject to availability), please ask at the Welcome Desk upon arrival.
The Museum has a fully accessible toilet with adult changing facilities, including a hoist and adjustable table.
There are visitor benches on each floor of the Museum alternatively we can provide you with a portable folding chair for use in the Museum if required.

Disabled parking
There are fifteen disabled spaces available in the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard car park, located in Admiralty Road approximately 400 metres from the dockyard entrance.
There are also disabled parking spaces available at;
- Wickham Street car park (PO1 3EF)
- The Harbour car park PO1 3EQ (no height restriction)
- Gunwharf Quays

Unfortunately there is no on-site parking for the Mary Rose Museum.
The Mary Rose buggy service
The Mary Rose Museum is 500m from the entrance to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
If you are visiting the Mary Rose and are unable to walk up to the site we can collect you from the entrance gate in our buggy. Please note this is subject to availability. Enquire at the Historic Dockyard Visitor Centre if you wish to use this service.
