Is the Mary Rose Museum included in a Portsmouth Historic Dockyard ticket?

Yes! Portsmouth Historic Dockyard includes entry to the Mary Rose Museum as part of the Ultimate Explorer, Three Attraction and One Attraction tickets.

Do carers need a ticket?

Registered disabled visitors to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and the Mary Rose should purchase an appropriate ticket according to their age.  They are eligible to bring along a carer for free – a complimentary day ticket will be allocated to the carer on arrival at the Visitor Centre.

What age are child tickets?

Child tickets are for children aged 3-15 years old. Children under 3 can visit free of charge.

Can I purchase a ticket for the Mary Rose on the day?

You can buy your ticket on the day online or onsite from our Visitor Centre ticket or at Museum welcome desk. However, please note that pre-booking tickets online in advance means you could benefit from a discount on your tickets.

Can I use my Blue Peter badge?

To gain free entry, each child (under 16s only) must have a Blue Peter badge and valid Blue Peter badge card. Free entry is only available when a full paying Ultimate Explorer ticket is purchased (adult or concession) and/or accompanying the child/Blue Peter badge holder.

Are you open for Christmas?

The Mary Rose Museum will be closed on the 24th, 25th and 26th December every year, but will be open throughout the Christmas holidays.

Can I bring my dog?

Only assistance dogs are permitted into Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and the Mary Rose Museum.

How long does it take to go around the Mary Rose Museum?

We recommend spending between 90 and 120 minutes to get the most out of the Museum, although you may spend more or less time depending on your schedule and interests.

Is the Mary Rose suitable for children?

Yes there are various interactive stations for children to enjoy during your visit to the Mary Rose. Plus our Mary Rose Café has received a Family Café Standard accreditation from the Kids in Museum organisation.

Is there anywhere we can leave our bags?

Because the Historic Dockyard is part of a working naval base, you are not able to leave luggage anywhere on site. Unattended items might be confiscated or destroyed by the MOD police.

Can we take photographs inside the Museum?

We encourage all visitors to take personal photos and share them with us via social media. However, flash photography is not permitted as this can be harmful to the artefacts.

Can I take photos for commercial or professional use?

No, Dive the Mary Rose 4D is included in all ticket types.
